Welcome!

Part of the Route 7 corridor

Everyone who lives along Route 7 or drives it knows it is a critical connection for life in southwestern Connecticut.  The portion of Route 7 between Norwalk and Danbury has been studied and rebuilt over decades in order to improve travel.

Still, there are gaps in the system in terms of making the most of the roadway. Improvements could still be made to provide the safest and most effective way to get from Norwalk to Danbury, and points in between.

Just as importantly, Route 7 is, in a sense, a landmark in the communities through which it passes. It is the road you need to use to get just about anywhere and leads you to work, shop, school, and play.

Route 7 impacts everyone’s quality of life.  The relationship between the road and its communities could also be improved. This study will look for ways to make those improvements and recommend an action plan to make them a reality.

The South Western Regional Planning Agency (SWRPA) along with the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials (HVCEO) is conducting this Route 7 Transportation & Land Use Study.  The study is being led by the planning consultant Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc. which specializes in multimodal transportation planning, community/land use planning, environmental planning, and public involvement.

This website provides information about the study process, displays meeting notices and study documents, and provides an opportunity for public comment. Please get involved by learning more about this study and by submitting comments.
